1ST CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT DFL ENDORSING CONVENTION

"Letter to Editor"

04/18/2006

The Democratic-Farmer Labor Party of Minnesota’s 1st Congressional District will hold its biennial convention on Saturday, April 29, in the Centennial Student Union Ballroom at Minnesota State University - Mankato.  Registration will begin at 8:30 am, with the convention being called to order at 10:00 am.

Approximately 175 delegates from across the district, which is comprised of 22 counties in southern Minnesota stretching from South Dakota to Wisconsin, will meet to conduct party business such as electing officers and district representatives to state party commissions.  They will also meet and listen to area legislators and statewide candidates seeking the DFL party endorsement at the state convention in June.

The final, and main order of business, will be to endorse a candidate to run for Congress.  Currently, Tim Walz, a teacher at Mankato West High School and retired Sergeant Major in the Minnesota National Guard, is seeking the DFL endorsement in the 1st Congressional District.
