An invitation from Joe and Elaine Mayer --
YOU ARE INVITED TO A CONVERSATION
JACK NELSON-PALLMEYER who has been called an “incorruptible” and “thoughtful visionary” has been asked to consider a run for the U.S. Senate in 2008 as a DFL candidate, but he needs the support of Minnesotans who will walk with him to change our country’s present course. Jack’s recent 5th District Congressional Campaign generated vibrant grassroots support and was recognized for its substance and creativity. He addressed the 2006 statewide DFL Convention on why and how to end the Iraq War.
An award-winning professor of Justice and Peace Studies at the U of St Thomas, his speeches, writings and teaching have frequently taken him into the political realm. He has a history of social activism in which his views and passion are very similar to Paul Wellstone. He knows that frustration is building over Iraq, global warming, rising gas prices, economic inequalities, unmet health and education needs, and the corrupting influence of money in politics.
He believes that “at this time of challenge and opportunity we have the creativity and skills as individuals and as a nation to solve pressing problems. Together we can address climate change and create a healthy Earth, end the Iraq War and build a culture of peace, establish single-payer health care and govern for the common good.”
