Awaiting word on MN revenue sharing

The awkward alliance of hunters and fishers and patrons of the arts was put to the test Monday as legislators wrangled over how much money each group would get from any new sales-tax revenue approved by voters.
"I've been cool," said John Schroers of the Minnesota Outdoor Heritage Alliance, as he conferred with allies during a break in the debate. "It's too early to get too upset just yet."
But time was running out for the disparate groups and legislators to cut a deal on dividing up an estimated $291 million expected if voters amend the state Constitution to dedicate additional taxes to outdoors and the arts.
The House and Senate agreed to ask voters in 2008 whether to raise the sales tax by three-eighths of 1 percent, but their bills differed on how the revenue would be distributed.
