Cost Perspective

We are told that the California wildfires now have a loss to the local area totaling $1 Billion.

That is a lot of money.

When we realize what we are pouring into Iraq and Afghanistan however, these California costs are just small potatoes by comparison.

We spend $12 Billion per MONTH on these wars. $10 Billion on Iraq and $2 Billion on Afghanistan.

That means we could rebuild the California wildfire areas 2 times over for one month’s cost of war or 144 times over for a one year cost of war. This war has been going on for six years and the costs are astronomical.

But we can’t afford to fund our schools; or a National Healthcare System; or to help those with mental health problems, not invest in a lot of other social and infrastructure challenges here in America according to the Bush Administration.

The Bush / Chaney Administration have their priorities wrong and Congress is way off base in supporting this war in Iraq ($10 Billion per MONTH cost and climbing) in my opinion.

Meanwhile here in Minnesota we are still trying to scrape together a few bucks to get the I-35W Bridge collapse repaired.

What misplaced priorities these GOP people have. It’s time for change. It’s time to end these wars and bring home our troops. It’s time for a change of Administrations.
