Courage and Hope: Now is the Time

"Letter to Editor"

01/26/2008

Dear Editor,

In 2008 we need a DFL Senate candidate who can beat Norm Coleman. That will require the courage to be honest about the problems our nation faces, problems Coleman and the Bush administration created or made worse.

But it is also going to require a positive vision for the future that gives voters realistic hope that by directing our nation’s energies in the right way, we can emerge from the dark days of the Bush administration better off.

I am the DFL candidate who can do this.

I am the only DFL Senate candidate who had the courage and judgment to oppose the Iraq war from the beginning. I advised Paul Wellstone on his vote against the war in 2002, and I debated Rep. Jim Ramstad on the war that same year.

I am the only DFL Senate candidate who signed on to the 1Sky proposal – the plan assembled by unions, environmental groups and scientists to create five million good new jobs building the renewable energy economy we need to solve global warming.

I am the only DFL Senate candidate calling for a national single-payer health care system that will cover all Americans.

I am asking your support to caucus for me Feb 5, and to become a delegate to your County Unit or Senate District convention. Please go to my website, JackforSenate.org for more information about my campaign. Thank you.

Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer

PS: The Duluth News Tribune reported this morning that I "won much of the night's applause" at last night's packed-house DFL Senate candidate forum in Duluth. Their report echoes what the StarTribune reported awhile back, that I have been receiving the "loudest and longest applause" at all of the debates.
