Knock, Knock…

McCain and Palin are flailing away at politics and are failing miserably. The bounce from the GOP Convention has faded, Palin is looking unfit as a VP candidate, McCain is proving he doesn’t understand economics and will lie to get what he wants, and the GOP itself is watching their House and Senate races disintegrate. When it’s over the GOP is expected to become extinct as a Party. They have nothing to offer, no solutions to the woes that they have created and they lack top quality candidates for public office.
As a ticket and as a Party the GOP is done for.
That doesn’t mean that they won’t put up a stiff fight, for they will; and it doesn’t mean they won’t revert to more lies and untruths for they will; and it doesn’t mean they won’t try to manipulate the ballot box and steal the election for they will surely try that again.
But we are ready for them this time out.
Democrats mainly have to work at turning out the vote -- especially the youth vote -- that voting segment has propelled Obama right up to the front door of the White House. With that said all votes are important and none should be taken for granted.
Right now it’s time to get up campaign signs and the Olmsted DFL advises that they have lawn signs available and ready for pick up at their Olmsted DFL Headquarters. If you need or want signs then stop in for pickup. The Olmsted DFL headquarters is located next to the Social Security Offices in Rochester.
Mailers will be going out and the DFL always needs help in addressing and envelope stuffing and getting the mailings ready to go. You can call and volunteer for that along with offering help in literature drops and door knocking. Not everyone is young and supple enough to do forty door knocks on a Saturday afternoon but they can stuff envelopes and man phone-banks. It is from such efforts that getting out the vote becomes reality.
Rides to the polls are often in demand and if you can volunteer with that then it would be appreciated.
There is just 51 days left until the election and the name of the game now is to turn out the vote for our candidates.
It’s time for all hands to turn out and help.
