Pizza For Progress (And Tim!)

"Letter to Editor"

09/04/2008

Hello everyone!

This is a reminder to everyone about the Annual “Pizza for Progress” Fundraiser that is occurring this Friday, September 5th starting at 5:00 pm and ending at 7:30 pm. This year it will take place at the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local #6 Hall located at 1470 Industrial Road NW in Rochester. Rochester’s Labopr Community is inviting union members and community supporters to join us. We are suggesting a donation of $25.00/person or $40.00/family for all you can eat and drink, featuring Lisa’a famous grilled pizza.

But most importantly, this is a chance for us to get out and support the best friend working families in Southern Minnesota have ever had in Washington, DC. Representative Walz has been there for our members, showing up at the Holiday Inn Express Rallies, Employee Free Choice Act events, speaking with Rochester bus drivers as they struggled to organize their union or helping assure a timely decision from the Labor Department on TAA assistance for TRW workers in Winona. He has co-sponsored the TRADE Act on fair trade, the RESPECT Act on defining who is a supervisor, the Employee Free Choice Act, as well as being a champion for Davis/Bacon in the Farm Bill and Transportation funding bills.

Finally, Tim is one of us. He is a teacher, a union member and a worker. We need to come out to support one of our own, or his opponents, and they are many with lots of money, will take him away and but back in place a representative who cares nothing about working families.

I hope to see you all there.

In solidarity,

Russell Hess, Political Coordinator
