Dear Editor,

As a 24-year veteran of the Army National Guard and the highest-ranking enlisted soldier ever to serve in the United States Congress, I've dedicated much of my time and energy during my first year in office to improving the care our veterans receive from the VA.

In 2007, under its new leadership, Congress passed the largest single increase in funding for the Department of Veterans Affairs in the entire 77-year history of the VA. As a member of the House Veterans Affairs Committee, I can tell you that my colleagues and I are proud of that increase, but we are not done fighting for the veterans who so honorably fought for our country.


I hope that you will join me on Wednesday, March 26th in Rochester to discuss ways in which we can continue to improve the lives of America's veterans.
