Speak Out, Minnesotans

A number of like-minded individuals, people you know or know of, are
joining to sponsor a full-page ad in the Mankato Free Press on
Sunday, April 3.  It will carry the text found below.  In our efforts
to secure funding for this ad (total cost: $1589) and as many signers
as possible, we may overlap in making contact with you.  If so,
please accept this as our zealous efforts to make a difference on a
personal level.

At the very least, I hope you will join us in signing this petition
and in distributing it as widely as you can.  Numbers talk! We need
every name, address and signature mailed ASAP to Speak Out!, c/o John
Christenson, 2011 Freeman Drive, St. Peter 56082.  Only your name
will appear in the ad.

Better yet, please include a contribution toward the cost of this ad.
Surplus funds, should we be so fortunate, will be applied toward a
follow-up ad.  Thanks for joining this effort.

Speak Out, Minnesotans

We, the undersigned, ask you, Governor Pawlenty, and you, our elected
legislators, to return our state to the status it once enjoyed as
progressive, caring and compassionate.

In the best interests of our state, we are requesting reallocation of
existing revenues and immediate implementation of an increased state
income tax adequate to provide for basic human needs through

a. An increased minimum wage
b. Increased support for social services
c. Saving and extending MinnesotaCare
d. Sufficient support for education

We also encourage you, our fellow citizens, to speak out
a. In your neighborhoods
b. In your faith communities
c. In your places of employment
d. At your city council meetings
e. At your school organizations
f. In your service clubs

It’s time to stand up for what’s right. It’s time to show we care. It’s time.
