Walk for Working Families

"Letter to Editor"

Labor 2008 Walks

Join union members Sept. 4 in knocking on doors and talking about what a McCain/Palin administration would mean for working families: four more years of the same failed Bush policies.

NOTE: Walks are only open to members of local unions that are affiliated with the AFL-CIO, a state or area labor federation or a central labor council.

Across the country today, thousands of union members will be walking in their neighborhoods and talking to their neighbors about the consequences for working families of another four years of Bush-McCain business as usual in Washington, D.C.

Join a Sept. 4 Labor Walk.

The choice in this election couldn’t be more clear. Barack Obama and Joe Biden have consistently fought for working families and aggressively supported unions and a free choice for workers to join a union and bargain for a better life if they want. Meanwhile, John McCain and Sarah Palin have repeatedly sided with Big Business and CEOs at the expense of America’s workers and their families.

After eight years of stagnant wages for the middle class, mounting job losses and a disappearing middle class, we simply can’t afford another four years of Bush-style business as usual.

Join us on a Sept. 4 Labor Walk.

Over the next two months, hundreds of millions of dollars will be spent on television ads and mail targeting persuadable voters, but study after study has shown that the most effective way to communicate with and persuade voters is by direct personal contact. That’s where you come in.

We need you to help us ensure that every union member in America understands what's at stake in this election. Your voice and your story can communicate this message much more effectively than repetitive TV ads. Collectively, we can educate tens of thousands of voters Sept. 4 and truly make a difference in this election.

Walk with us on Sept. 4.

In Solidarity,

Working Families e-Activist

P.S. Worried about missing opening night of the NFL? Don’t fear, most of our walks will be over before the game begins. Join us for a walk Sept. 4 and help change the direction of our country.
