There are a LOT of different community events this month ! Note the
Granary Girls concert Sept 22 at the Peace Plaza - the Granary Girls sing
about social justice issues and were friends with Paul and Sheila
Wellstone.
For DFL events this month, there is the new DFL Women’s Breakfast this
Thursday Sept. 8. On Sunday Sept 11, Greg Wright will be hosting a
fundraiser for Andy Welti. The Olmsted County DFL will have a booth at
the Golden Generations Show Sept 13- we can still use some help at the
booth if you are available between 8:30 and 4:00. Attorney General Mike
Hatch will be giving the keynote speech at 4:15PM. On Tuesday Sept. 20
the DFL will have a town hall on Universal Health Care.
I plan to attend the NAACP banquet Saturday Oct. 1 if anyone would like

Sunday. The festival showcases the Greek, Russian, Romanian and other
cultures that come to southern Minnesota’s only Orthodox Christian
church. The festival includes a silent auction, car raffle, a bouzouki
band, ethnic dancers and a children’s area with games and face painting.

9/11 Service to honor service personnel

The service will honor the victims and first responders who died in the
Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks and recognize the work done by
emergency services personnel. Prior to the service, there will be a
parade of emergency vehicles beginning at 1 p.m. at Rochester Community
and Technical College and traveling East Circle Drive to 37th Street to
West River Parkway to 55th Street to 50th Avenue to 65th Street to
Frontage Road.

than 35 vendors. Live music will be from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on
Thursdays in the Peace Plaza in front of the market. Food and beverages

Public information sessions for Oct. 4 Referendum for Rochester Sales Tax

On Oct. 4 in Rochester, there will be a referendum for a 1/2% sales tax
extension. The city has proposed to use $16 million for the city
transportation infastructure needs, $16 for Olmsted County transportation
infrastructure needs, and $8 million for higher education facilities.
There will be 2 public information sessions (listed above) which will be
about 1 hour in length followed by a question and answer session.
