Here is a community events list for December. The Darn Fine Ladies
are having a holiday luncheon on Dec. 13.

There are too many holiday concerts and fundraisers to mention all of
them in this list. The Post Bulletin calendar lists most of those.

    Seasons Hospice invites you to join them at the 11th annual Community
    Memorial Service for an evening of remembrance. The time will include
    special music, reflection, candle lighting, and a reading of loved

    If you would like to help needy families have a happy holiday season,
    consider volunteering to help at the Christmas Anonymous store. On
    this day, parents will come to pick out Christmas gifts for their
    children and many volunteers are needed to escort the parents through
    the store and help them select Christmas gifts. You must be 16 years

    Linda Williams and Their Fine Group. The Williams have made numerous
    appearances on "A Prairie Home Companion" and recently appeared in the

    Dr. Mykee Fowlin returns to Rochester with his one man show. In his
    fast-paced 90-minute performance, Mykee slips in and out of nine
    characters as he challenges the audience to consider issues of race,
    discrimination, suicide, gender equity, special education, personal
    identity. No charge. (I have not heard Dr. Mykee Fowlin but have heard
    great reviews on his programs)

    Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill

    Rochester Civic Theatre


    As part of the community-wide Martin Luther King week celebration,
    Rochester Civic Theatre brings the story and the music of legendary
    Billie Holiday to its stage. Winner of the Outer Critics Circle Award,
    Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill is a skillful blend of biography
    and cabaret and features fifteen songs – including “God Bless the
    Child,” “Strange Fruit,” and “Ain’t Nobody’s Business if I Do”.
    Thomasina Taylor, last seen on our stage in Mixed Blood’s daughters of
    africa, plays the title role and captures the “unique phrasing, voice,
    and spirit” of Ms. Holiday in Robertson’s homage to the triumphs and
    setbacks of one of America’s jazz greats. (Adult subject matter)
    Tickets $15, on sale January 2.
