Democratic Party Fear Is Not Well Founded

Democrats fearing that the GOP will win lots of House seats should relax and smell the coffee. The notion is that because the economic recovery is stalling out then the GOP will gain seats.
But it ain’t necessarily so.
Voters are well aware of why we have an economic recovery needed and who put us in that position. Voting for Republicans to fix their own mess is not gong to fix anything. It simply puts inmates back in charge of running the asylum. We think that is ill advised and so do most voters, both Democrats and Reublicans.
Also, voters are aware that the GOP, especially in the Senate, has created a wicked mess of all attempts to provide economic recovery. They have offered demagoguery in response to attempts by the Obama team to institute needed change. This is the opposite of what the 2008 election called for. It called for change and the Republicans have a mantra: “Just Say “No” to change.” This is the opposite of what the nation demands and much of the unhappiness with Washington can be tied directly to the GOP Senate and a few Democrat Party “Blue Dogs” who vote with the GOP. The problem is not with the Democratic controlled and lead House. They have been a light year ahead of the Senate on getting their job done.
Fixing the problems in Washington largely means fixing the election of the Senators up for election. Simply do not support the GOP candidate for the Senate.
Right now, within the GOP there is a battle for control of the Party. There is a civil war between the Tea Party activists and the neo-cons over Party control and over candidate selection for the General Election in November. No matter the outcome the GOP survivors will need to face Democrats who are quietly waiting to take them on.
Please note that the Tea Party activists, unhappy with the GOP and having lost their bid at Party change, have to decide who to vote for in November. Democrats should be making the case for voting for a Democrat.
My argument is that Democrats are in a good position to win if we get out and work and turn out the vote. It is so easy now to say: “I’m sick of all this,” and then walk away.
Doing that guarantees the GOP a better shot at winning for indeed the efforts of one person in a campaign can make a difference and all too often lately we can see that just one vote can make a difference too.
This is not a time for fear -- this is a time for joint work efforts. Save the fear for what you will feel if the GOP wins the 2010 election. That is something to fear alright.
