Blue Star Mothers' pancake breakfast

Event is sponsored by the Dodge County Blue Star Mothers of America,
an organization for military mothers. Money raised from the breakfast
will benefit the Fisher House, a "home away from home" for injured
soldiers' families. Cost is $15 for age 13 and up, $4 for ages 4-12

A University of Minnesota expert on water will talk about challenges
in emerging water issues in the state. It is the first in a four-part
series on Water, Climate, Fuel and the Environment.

Minnesota Trout Association, Hiawatha Trout Unlimited and the
University of Minnesota Rochester Campus are presenting a series of
recognized experts to describe Minnesota’s emerging issues related to

future health of our environment. Come listen to this series of
renowned experts and researchers from the University of Minnesota who
will talk about how emerging water, climate and biofuels issues might
affect us.

"Little Cells, Big Issues: Ethics and Policy Issues in Human Embryonic
Stem Cell Research"
Stem cell research is everyone’s concern. Dr. Jeffrey Kahn will
explore some of the current issues involved in bioethics: advancing
human good while avoiding harm. Dr. Kahn is Director and Maas Family
Chair in Bioethics; Professor, Department of Medicine, University of
Minnesota Medical School; Division of Health Services Research and
Policy, School of Public Health; Department of Philosophy, University
of Minnesota.
He has recently published a book examining justice and research
ethics, entitled Beyond Consent: Seeking Justice in Research
(published by Oxford University Press) and wrote the bi-weekly
column, “Ethics Matters,” on CNN Interactive from 1998 to 2002.
This lecture is co-sponsored by Rochester Area Alumni and Friends of
the University of Minnesota (RAAFUM) and the University of Minnesota
Rochester (UMR). There is no charge for this event but donations for
the RAAFUM UMR Scholarship fund will be gratefully accepted.

debts, freeloading hippie houseguests, and a budding love life, Caleb
