It’s Not Enough

Republican's say that Obama Care represents too much government involvement but I think there is too little government involvement. I think that the reason for costly health insurance is the high profit margins that these company's demand and the bloated wages paid to insurance executives. Add to that the ever rising dividends and stock price increases and we can see that if Government ran the show that a 50% reduction in premiums is possible.

Obama care does help a bit with this problem. It partially constrains the Insurance companies, but not by much. They still plan to raise insurance rates at a rate of 5% per year, every year for the next six years. I assert that if Medicare was running the show and if Medicare was available to all then costs could be better managed, fees would be lower for treatment rendered, and insurance increases would be capped.

Also I think that once employers get out of the picture that Republicans would lose their death grip on the health care industry. Once insurance becomes mandatory there is no reason for individuals not to buy their own insurance and good reason would exist for why wages should rise to pay for it.

Furthermore I think that unemployed people should be provided with health insurance until they become gainfully employed .

We have too many healthcare programs in America. I am a veteran but I think that veterans healthcare benefits are better than what taxpayers can afford to cover for themselves and their family. I would opt for a single national healthcare plan that would cover all citizens from cradle to grave with the same coverage.

If people want to buy supplemental insurance in order to close gaps then they should be free to do so.

So if Republicans seek to reopen Obama Care as legislation then by all means let's make this a campaign issue and let's win this 2012 election with a Democratic Party super majority. Then let's see about getting the sort of single payer plan as described above.

Republicans drive up the cost health care thus they bad for our health.
