MeXica New Year

People’s Cooperative Servies (3935 Hwy 14 E)
The MeXica New Year is the time when ancient Mexicans (the MeXica)
ushered in the coming year each spring. Descendents of the MeXican
culture preserve this tradition by welcoming the coming of spring with
dance and music from the ancient past. Aztec dance groups from
Minneapolis and Chicago will be in Rochester to facilitate this

School Board Listening posts

Make Your Voice Heard at School Board Listening Posts
Rochester Public School Board members would like to extend to you a special invitation to attend the upcoming Community Listening Posts on Monday, March 14, starting at 7 am and continuing throughout the day.
There is no need to RSVP; these will be drop-in sessions (except KROC) around Rochester, with brief comments by Board members at the beginning of each session.
The Listening Posts are opportunities for the public to voice their ideas, concerns, and opinions about public education in Rochester. There are many different times and locations throughout the area that you may choose from on Monday, March 14. The School Board encourages the public to attend, express their views, and be a part of the future of Rochester’s children.

Mandala Focus Group

Mandala is an organization based on the work of the Minnesota
Restorative Justice Campaign. Mandala promotes individual empowerment
that assists communities in finding solutions that can create
and embrace peaceful solutions to racial bias and crime. They are
seeking input and guidance in assessing needs, community resources,
and support from communities of color in building restorative
justice coalitions in Minnesota. People of color are invited

Community Meeting on Ready 4 K Legislative Agenda

For the past few years Ready 4 K has worked in close partnership with
leaders in the early childhood community, faith community, and business
community to develop public policy plans that will build on the strength
of Minnesota’s current early childhood programs and create a
well-coordinated early childhood system. They would like to share this
agenda, called the Road Map for School Readiness, with the community.

This series provides you with an excellent opportunity to ask our
area state legislators about the issues that affect your business and
your community; and to hear the latest news from the 2005 legislative
session. The guest speakers for March are Senator Dick Day and Senator
Steve Murphy.

Free forum sponsored by the MN Dept of Human Rights and the Olmsted
County Human Rights Commission. This forum is free and open to the

Inter-Tribal Powwow
March 25-27
National Guard Armory
1715 Marion Road S.E.
An intertribal powwow hosted by the American Indian Center of
Rochester will be held March 25-27 at the National Guard Armory, 1715 Marion Road S.E., Rochester. Doors open at 6:00PM March 25 and a drum warm-up will begin at 7:00PM. Doors open at 10:00AM March 26 and 27. The grand entry will be at 1:00pm and 7:00PM March 26 and at 1 PM March 27. An EasterEgg hunt will be at noon March 27. Admission is free but
donations will be accepted. Buttons for $5 each will be sold at the

Citizen Forester Training

City Forester’s Office 403 East Center Street
Rochester NeighborWoods committee is seeking volunteer Citizen Foresters
to assist with its boulevard tree-planting program! Learn how to
properly select, plant, and maintain healthy and beautiful trees in our
neighborhoods. Adults and young adults who are Rochester residents are
eligible to become Citizen Foresters. They must attend three training
sessions. The next training will be March 29, 30 and 31 with a hands-on
tree-planting session during the final class. Registration is required
