2005 DFL In Review—Happy New Year !!!

01/02/2006

Dear DFL,

A most heartfelt thank you to our elected officials, Representatives Tina Liebling and Andy Welti, candidates, volunteers, Olmsted County DFL Central Committee members, committee chairs, directors and officers. Your hard work in 2005 has been inspiring and noticed.

The success of 2004 provided a bounty of opportunity in 2005. The Olmsted County DFL can take pride in one of the most successful and productive non-election years in memory. In other words our successful campaign has continued well beyond the last election.  We have worked diligently toward our 2005 mission statement, to maximize the resources for our Olmsted County DFL.

In 2005 our goals focused on four areas:

Candidate Recruitment
Educational Opportunities
Fiscal Replenishment
Party Development

Significant progress toward attaining these goals was made.

Our House candidates have worked tirelessly to build their campaigns and are exceptionally well prepared as the 2006 election year begins.

The educational opportunity provided by Camp Wellstone in Rochester in June 2005 was well attended and we look forward to such future opportunities. Education of the volunteer, the campaign staff and the candidate is essential for running effective campaigns.

Olmsted County DFL’s prime responsibility is to help re-elect our incumbents and elect our candidates. To be well prepared is to be well funded, a necessity to compete. Our fundraising is an ongoing goal that relies on your generosity and use of the Matching Funds Program.  As of January 1st, contributions may be reimbursed from the 2006 Matching Funds Program. A donation to the Olmsted County DFL of up to $50 per individual or $100 per married couple can be refunded through this program. Monies raised are used to support the candidates, such as funding the Democratic Party Office and DFL events.

We worked hard in 2005 to build the resources necessary to grow the party, support our incumbents and help our candidates. Our committees have been extremely instrumental in building the party. In 2006, Olmsted County will be the most targeted area in the state and thanks to your dedicated work we will be prepared.

In fact, the Olmsted County DFL is respected statewide for the work we have done locally. By extending a hand to Democrats in neighboring communities, counties and in special elections across the state, including recent Democratic victories in St. Paul and St. Cloud, we have helped build Democratic momentum that carries into this new year.

2006 will be a very exciting election year. Our local elections will be a center of much attention, and we have the privilege of hosting the 2006 State Democratic Convention. The Olmsted County DFL will focus forward, stay on message and run positive campaigns. We look forward to the future and hope you will join us.

Thank you again to all who contributed to make 2005 a successful year for the Olmsted County DFL.

Happy New Year !!!

Sincerely,
Lynn
