A Faint Glow of Peace

With Iraq’s powerful cleric al Sistini rejecting an American proposed coalition and thus al Sadr’s hand strengthened, the dream of a unity government has reached a new low.
However there is some hope.
Al Sadr wants Americans out of Iraq and he demands a timetable for American withdrawal. The American people want the same thing. The difference is that we Americans do not want to leave al Sadr and the Shiites to murder the Sunni’s.
So we should negotiate with al Sadr and tell him that we’ll vacate Iraq if he stops killing Sunni’s.
If we can agree on that objective then America can get out of Iraq. If we can’t agree on it then more unnecessary blood-shed will follow.
