Pawlenty-House plan
• Life in prison for thousands of “worst of the worst” sex offenders, some without possibility of parole.
• A new Sex Offender Review Board would decide if those on indeterminate life terms could be released after no less than 20 years in prison.
• Doubled statutory maximum sentences, up to 60 years, for other sex crimes.
Bipartisan Senate plan
• Life in prison with possibility of parole for hundreds of repeat and heinous sex offenders.
• Greatly increased supervision of many of the hundreds of predatory offenders who are released from prison each year.
• “Only” one new prison needed vs. up to seven for other plan.
