A New Year for Change

This week, the Iowa caucuses mark the beginning: a new election year and a new chance to continue the change that began in 2006 when we took back Congress and the State Legislature. Next step: hold onto our gains from 2006, defeat Norm Coleman, and win back the White House.

And today is also your first chance in 2008 to take advantage of Minnesota's grassroots Political Contribution Refund (PCR) program. Contribute $50 ($100 per couple) to the DFL Party today and the State will turn around and give it right back to you. Really, it is that simple.

And when you make your early, fully refundable $50 contribution to the DFL Party, you help the only organization that works to elect all Democrats, from the bottom of the ticket to the top. Your political dollar simply goes farther at the DFL Party.

But to put that free money to work, Paul, you have to give it. In 2006, the State gave back over $1 million more to Republican contributors than to DFLers because Republicans took better advantage of this grassroots program. Too many Democrats don't even know about it.

So if everyone who gets this email makes their fully refundable $50 contribution today, then we close that gap immediately and we get our strongest, fastest campaign start in history, leaving the Republicans in the dust.

That sounds to me like a great way to start the New Year.

The most efficient, effective political contribution you can make is to the DFL Party, which works for all endorsed candidates, from the top of the ballot to the bottom.

Contributions to the Presidential, U.S. Senate, and U.S. House races are not eligible. But a contribution to the DFL Party, which supports those candidates, is eligible.

You can claim a refund only once a year.
