Five Ukrainian journalists studying ‘independent media’ in Austin, Rochester and the Twin Cities may attend our next SE Democratic Party Meetup on Aug 9 at 7 p.m. Please come learn about their Orange Revolution and share with them our ideas about ‘media & democracy’ both in the US and Ukraine. You are also invited to join their Sendoff Party between noon and 3pm on Sat/Aug 13 at Mower County’s ‘Fair Square’ or on Thu/Aug 11 at a 5-8pm Host Family & Ukrainian BBQ, led by Mower DFL Chair Martin Zellar and his musician friends. PS: In case needed, here are directions to the Mower County Fair:

Directions for Saturday’s Dutch Treat “Ukraine” party at the Fairgrounds: Drive to Austin from the east (Rochester, etc.) via I90 West or from the west (Albert Lea, etc.) via I90 East or from the north (Twin Cities, etc.) via I35 South &/or 218 South or from the south (Iowa, etc.) via I35 North or 218 North. Take an Oakland Ave exit off I90 at either end of Austin or 218N/14th Street exit. Go to the intersection of Oakland & 12th St SW (also Highway 105 South). Go south about 5 blocks. The Fair is on the right side of the street. Parking on the Fairgrounds costs $4. Ask at either gate for the noon “Ukraine party” at the Fair Square. Or find us at 5 tables marked with Ukrainian names under sunshade near Free Stages called “Godfather’s Pizza Stage” with a 1pm Talent Contest and “Farm Bureau Stage” where you could enjoy Mel’s Polka Stars at 4-6pm, after our noon-3pm Ukraine party.

The visitors will take up most of our agenda. I will bring and abreviated agenda to the meeting.
