Bush Visit on Thurday to Twin Cities
01/31/2006
St. Paul, MN – On the day after the President’s State of the Union address and the day before his visit to Minnesota, state leaders are expressing their outrage over the misplaced priorities of the Bush Administration. Americans United, the national campaign group which defeated the President’s Social Security privatization plan last year will host the press conference in advance of the President’s trip to express their disappointment with current Administration’s failure to address the priorities of Minnesota and American families.
THE COST OF CORRUPTION
Speakers will also address the cost of corruption in Washington on the misplaced priorities of the Bush Administration and his allies in Congress – including last year’s failed effort to privatize Social Security which would have been a boon to President Bush’s supporters on Wall Street and in the financial services industry. In his address tonight, Bush is expected to back Health Savings Account which would provide tax credits to more affluent citizens – a type of “trickle down health care” which would also be a boon to the financial services industry, banks and credit unions. The New York Times reported last week that representatives of banks, money management firms and credit unions – all large financial backers of President’s Bush’s and his allies in Congress – have held meetings at the White House to help draft Bush’s healthcare proposal which would benefit them and their shareholders – mush as privatizing Social Security would have.
