Celebrating Our Wonderful Students

04/15/2005

Each spring, the REA (Rochester Education Association) gives out a Human
Relations Award at their Spring Banquet.  SaraJo Fury and I are nominating
the Rochester Students for Education Funding (RSEF) group for the 2005 Human
Relations Award, in the “Student” division.  This group of Rochester
students has collectively proven that they want to make a difference. Their
enthusiastic energy concerning the future of public education has been
demonstrated in their presentations, videos, and voices throughout our
schools, and across the state.  They have shown great character and we want
to reward them for their effort.

Though the group is completely non-partisan, many of the members will be
familiar to Olmsted DFLers.  Marissa Knodel, Kristina Gebhard, Nelson
Cheung, Mike Diedrich, and Jill Eikenhorst are among those who have
dedicated tremendous energy and who have shown outstanding community
leadership.

SaraJo and I have nominated this group and now need to collect testimony
from the community.  If you could take a moment of your time to write a
recommendation for this group to ensure that they are rewared for their
humanitarian acts, we would appreciate it.

If you are willing to write a letter, please let Shane Baker
() know.  The deadline is May 2nd; we would like to
receive all of the letters by the end of April, so that we can compile them
and organize our presentation in a professional way.

Thanks so much for your time and we look forward to hearing from you.
