Century Young Democrats Project Information

02/04/2005

Hello, everyone!

This is an informational letter about the latest project of the Century Young Democrats: Nairobi Youth Empowerment.

This is more of a non-partisan endeavour, and we are working through the organization SIDAREC Slums Information Development and Resources Centers, http://www.sidarec.or.ke which “seeks to compliment the government’s efforts in upholding and protecting the rights of the child, especially the right to education amongst the poorest and educationally disadvantaged communities.”

Our first project is the “Have A Heart” Benefit Dinner (see attached flier).

This dinner will be held on Friday, February 11, and is designed to educate and enlighten the Rochester public on the issues affecting the youth of Nairobi, Kenya and what we can do about it.

Save a dollar on your ticket price (only $15 for adults and $10 for students) by signing up at http://www.centuryydfl.com

100% of the proceeds will go towards SIDAREC’s Early Childhood Development program, which provides classrooms, transportation, uniforms, supplies, and scholarships to young children living in Nairobi slums.

When: Friday, February 11, 7:00 p.m. (gather at 6:30 p.m. with Century’s African Drumming Club)

Where: Mt. Olive Lutheran Church (2830 18th Ave. NE)

Peace, Marissa Knodel (, 507-289-6794)
