Information on referendum:
On Oct. 4 in Rochester, there will be a referendum for a 1/2% sales tax extension. Voters are asked to approve $40 million in sales tax funding for two major improvement projects: Transportation and Higher Education, both of which are critical to economic growth, safety and quality of life in Rochester and Olmsted County. The current ½% sales tax rate will not change. The sales tax for current projects will remain until 2009, the additional $40 million would extend that to 2014.
