Dear MoveOn Member,
On Wednesday, thousands of us will gather at candlelight vigils to mark the 5th anniversary of the invasion of Iraq. In addition to honoring the fallen, we'll send a clear message in this sinking economy: it's time to end the war, and start using the billions wasted every week on the Iraq occupation to help folks here at home.
Republicans are trying to tell a story that opposition to the war is declining. The media will be looking to this anniversary as an indicator, and we need to turn out in force.
There's a vigil in Rochester—can you make it on Wednesday?

By any measure, the last five years in Iraq have been devastating. Tens of thousands of American troops and hundreds of thousands of Iraqis have been killed or injured. And the war will cost more than $3 trillion—money that is desperately needed in our communities.
MoveOn members who are veterans and military family members have sent us dozens of stories to read at the vigils. Here's what Andrea, a Pennsylvania MoveOn member, said:
This is my son's third tour in Iraq. We want him home. No ifs, ands, or buts. There is no need for our loved ones to be over there any more. Enough is enough. [We should] spend the money on the war at home where it is needed the most: doing something to get our economy back on track.
These vigils will elevate their voices—and all of ours, to create hundreds of local news stories and send a strong message that Americans demand a swift end to this war.
Hope you can join us, and thanks again for all you do.
