Debate-weary House passes hefty school funding bill

Working into the wee hours for the second straight day, the Minnesota House approved a $14 billion school spending bill.
The bill was passed about 1 a.m. this morning, after hours of debate.
The school funding bill is the biggest chunk of Minnesota's two-year budget, consuming nearly 40 cents of every dollar. House Democrats say it's among the most ambitious in two decades and would boost the state's education spending by 9.4 percent.
