DFL Letter from Brian Melendez

08/08/2005

Dear Democratic Friend:

Thanks to your generous contributions, we have hired our first wave of organizers for the DFL Coordinated Campaign in St. Paul. We asked for your support, and you gave us the start-up boost we needed to hit the ground running. These dedicated young leaders will go through intense training as they sharpen their organizing skills for 2005 and beyond.

The Republicans will be doing the same — training their young conservative minions to work on their behalf. We must do it even better! As DFLers, we know the important role that these organizers will play. To win elections, we must connect with real voters in their neighborhoods, and we must work smarter and more efficiently than ever.

These young organizers are ready for the challenge. Look for them in a neighborhood near you — they will be communicating our Democratic values, face to face with citizens every day:

Sara Van Moorlehem grew up in southwestern Minnesota. She comes from a long line of farmers: her father is a farmer, and grandpa too. What drives her passion as an organizer is “realizing that people can make a difference.” Along with working 20-hour days, she will be working toward her goals of acquiring a dog and a porch someday.

Nira Ly grew up in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and recently graduated from Carleton College. One of her hobbies is volleyball — and she is ready to spike the ball for our DFL-endorsed candidates! She is excited to be working with volunteers for phone banks, door-knocks, and other events. She is inspired by seeing people take action and get involved with issues that are important to them.

We still need your help to keep organizing throughout the summer. We still need more organizers to win this election, and we can’t do it without you. Please click here to make your contribution of $200, $100, $50, or $25 to build a Democratic organizing force for 2005 and beyond. Please contribute today! You are helping us fight for our Democratic values.

Thank you for what you have done already!

Sincerely,

Brian Melendez
Minnesota DFL Party Chair

P.S. Your contribution of $50 per individual or $100 per couple will help us sustain Sara and Nira’s great work, and may be fully refundable from the State of Minnesota. Click here for more information about the Political Contribution Refund program.
