SENATE DFL OFFER | Early Afternoon
• Revenue: Would double the number of poker tables at Canterbury Park for $16 million in state revenue, add 75-cent-a-pack wholesale charge on cigarettes and other tobacco products and close corporate tax loopholes to save $80 million.
• Spending: $867 million in new K-12 education spending and a performance pay plan for teachers; health and human services would be cut by $323 million; no cuts in MinnesotaCare eligibility.
GOVERNOR’S OFFER | Wednesday night
• Core package: A 75-cent-a-pack wholesale charge on cigarettes and other tobacco products and other already agreed-upon revenue sources would fund budget increases in what the governor called core services: education, teacher performance pay, health care, human services, transit.
• Enhancement package: A racino at Canterbury Park would benefit the White Earth Chippewa and provide $210 million for “enhanced” state spending for more local government aid, public pensions, salary supplements for government employees.
