DFL RELEASES NEW AD IN THE GOVERNOR’S RACE

10/25/2006

ST. PAUL (10/25/06) – Today, the Minnesota DFL Party released a new television ad in the governor’s race. “Close” is a thirty-second television spot that will run statewide. Minnesota DFL spokesperson Jess McIntosh released the following statement:

“Tim Pawlenty is great at pretending he’s not your typical Bush Republican. But if you look at the way his administration has failed middle-class Minnesotans, you’ll see a lot more similarities than immediately meet the eye. Both Republicans have cut unacceptable corners in their budgets when it comes to funding public safety and education.

“Governor Pawlenty is a showman. If it’s politically expedient for him to seem independent, that’s what he’s going to do. But in 2002, Dick Cheney personally intervened to ensure that Pawlenty would seek the office that the Bush administration wanted him to. And since then, Pawlenty’s campaigns have taken hundreds of thousands of dollars raised by the Bush administration. Tim Pawlenty is just as entrenched in the Washington Republican culture as anyone.”
