Digging the Holes Deeper and Deeper

According to the GOP media script we Democrats are supposed to be gloating over the problems of the Bush Administration. We are supposed to be saying: “We Told Ya So.”

Only for the most part it doesn’t really come out that way and the GOP media is making a mistake in thinking that the Democratic Party is timid because it isn’t sticking it to the GOP. Look again—it’s the Democratic Party that is providing much of the revelations of the Bush Administrations failure. We are not timid—we are just not gloating over America’s troubles. We don’t think them a matter to gloat over. We think them to be tragic.

Democrats look at what is going on in government in amazement and we recognize that every problem, every scandal, every failure at governing properly, is adding rocks to the Democratic Party back-pack. And that back-pack is getting very heavy indeed. Sure voters will throw Bush and his crew out. Then what? Then Democrats have to take out the rocks and manage every darn one of them into a semblance of order and create an attractive design and then we have to build a new rock house for America out of the Bush failures.

Picking up the pieces of Iraq, Iran, North Korea, India, Pakistan, Israel, Afghanistan, and Palestine, is going to be very hard work. Mending fences with the EU and rebuilding the UN will be very hard work. Retiring the mountain of debt racked up by the GOP is going to be hard. Mending a failed economy is going to be hard too while getting a national healthcare system in place will also be hard. Then we have to manage China and its growing influence plus deal with the Bush failed energy and failed transportation efforts.

It can be done and it will require people of good spirit to help us out. It will take Americans (both Democrats and Republicans) to do the craftsmanship. Partisanship is no longer going to be possible if America is to survive.

Now we Democrats don’t complain about the work, indeed we are interviewing for the job with voters. We will do the job and whistle a happy song while we are engaged at it. We will even get the U.S. military rebuilt and obtain some semblance of control over it once again. After five years of the GOP failing miserably at everything that they have touched there is so much to be done and undone that a lot of our own Democratic agenda will have to be put into a triage pile and managed a-priori. There are GOP politicans who know better, who can place Americas best interests above partisanship, and who can be a part of the solution rather than a part of the problems. We will seek them out and work with them. Together we can get the job done.

Bush and his team are still digging holes on the American front lawn and it’s getting time to slow them down. Start letting Congress know that enough is enough. Demand Congress get the holes filled back up during this Congress and before the 2006 election arrives.
