Voters in the Dover-Eyota School District defeated a $9.1 million referendum, according to results posted on the district's website.
In a vote held Tuesday, 456 voters approved the measure while 936 voters said no.
The project would have added 12 new classrooms, two new music rooms, a gymnasium and expanded kitchen space to the district's elementary school. The towns of Dover and Eyota are east of Rochester in southeastern Minnesota.
