Elizabeth and John Are Much Beloved

If ever there was an outpouring of love, compassion, and community, then we witnessed it yesterday when the Edwards family gave their sad news to the nation. Elizabeth’s cancer has recurred and she is out of remission.

The cancer has gone to bone and now must be aggressively treated with chemotherapy.

Readers of this column know the danger and challenges posed by a cancer of this type and our prayers go out to both Elizabeth, John, and their family members.

John has promised to go on with the campaign and to have whatever positive effect he can on the nation and its challenges in the coming weeks and months. Elizabeth supports him in that commitment. We have no doubt that if and when Elizabeth needs John and his devotion it will be there for her in full measure and vice-versa.

In the meantime we pray for containment and successful treatment for Elizabeth.
