Franken Campaign Update
09/24/2007
Dear Friend,
It's amazing how quickly summer turns to fall here in Minnesota. We're still nursing our State Fair sunburns (and enjoying a few last ears of sweet corn), but before the first frost hits, here are a few updates on our campaign.
Change for Change
By popular demand, we're introducing a new way to support Al's campaign for change. Actually, it's a new way to support Al's campaign WITH change - with just a few dollars every month.
We're calling it the "People Who Give Us A Small Amount Of Money On A Regular Basis" program, or at least that's what we're calling it for now. (If you have a better idea, please, please, please let us know).
Here's how it works. You pick a level of support you can afford each month. Maybe you can spare $50 every month - that's less than two dollars a day. Maybe it's $25 - that's like putting your pocket change at the end of the day in a jar marked "TAKING BACK OUR COUNTRY." Or maybe you could just skip two cups of coffee a month and commit to five bucks.
Whatever it is, when you sign up, it lets us know that we'll be able to count on you all the way through the election. So click here to sign up at whatever level of support you can afford - your pocket change can help Al bring about real change in Washington.
Oh, and if you can join the program with at least $20.08 a month - less than a dollar a day - we've got a special gift for you that's not available anywhere else. Click here to see it.
Endorsements
Al continues to attract support from DFL activists and officials all over the state. We're proud to announce ten new legislative endorsements, bringing our total to 43: Sen. Linda Scheid (Brooklyn Park), Sen. Tom Saxhaug (Grand Rapids), Sen. Ann Lynch (Rochester), Rep. Loren Solberg (Grand Rapids), Rep. Alice Hausman (St. Paul), Rep. Mindy Greiling (Roseville), Rep. Sheldon Johnson (St. Paul), Rep. Ann Lenczewski (Bloomington), Rep. Lyle Koenen (Clara City), and Rep. Leon Lillie (North St. Paul), as well as Minneapolis City Councilors Lisa Goodman and Betsy Hodges.
If you're keeping score, that makes 15 state Senators and 28 state Representatives who have joined TeamFranken - 21 legislators from the metro area and 22 from Greater Minnesota. You can see a full list of our endorsements (in a snazzy new format) by clicking here.
Tech corner
We heard from some of you that our campaign blog was a bit clunky to navigate. But when our web team went to add some navigational features, they took it as a chance to do a complete overhaul - the new blog has the same campaign trail stories and restaurant reviews, but with better navigation and organization, more photos and You Tube videos, and a whole new look and feel. Check it out here.
But that's not all - our video team put together a bunch of new shoots from the summer. If you haven't seen our campaign trail videos before, you might be under the impression that they're the typical boring political advertisements. But Al has too much fun out on the trail for that - and our videos are as much fun to watch as they were to make. Check them out here.
Finally, we're working on improving our issues section - it's a bit more easy to use now, and watch out for more content there as the campaign progresses. We also took a swing at the Meet Al section of the website. If you want to sneak a peak at the Franken family photo album, this is now the page to do it.
And just wait until you see what we're unrolling next month. I'll give you a sneak preview: it involves a giant map of Minnesota, the world's largest otter, a lot of apple pies, and a tiny version of Al's Ford Escape hybrid.
State Fair thank you's
We here at TeamFranken want to give one last summer shout out before the calendar turns to fall. Our staff (led by Logistical Artist Dusty Trice), interns, and amazing volunteers did a great job building our beautiful State Fair booth, and thousands of Minnesotans came by to say hi to Al and Franni and find out about the campaign.
We can't tell you how much it meant to us, and to Al and Franni, to see the enthusiastic crowds at our booth. If you helped us out at the Fair, or if you came by to show your support for the campaign or even ask some tough questions, THANK YOU.
Make sure you see our State Fair photo gallery and video. Oh, and: A lot of you have asked about our State Fair trading cards. Well, I don't want to give anything away, but yes, we do have a few extra sets - so watch for an email coming next week about how you can get your limited-edition set.
Thanks again for all you do,
Andy Barr
TeamFranken
