Franken Campaign Update: 599 Days To Go!
03/17/2007
Dear Friend,
We may have almost 600 days left until Election Day, but it's already getting busy here at Al Franken for Senate.
First, the most exciting news: we've re-launched our website at http://www.alfranken.com. Sure, it looks cool. But it will also serve as an online campaign headquarters, allowing you to stay informed and stay involved as we head towards 2008.
Take a look around, but don't forget to check out the listing of upcoming events, video podcast page (complete with a new message from Al), and an issues section, where you can see what Al has to say on some of the issues people in Minnesota are talking about.
Oh, and speaking of Minnesotans, if you've come to one of our events, check out our new campaign blog. We've got a bunch of pictures up from our events in Nashwauk, Duluth, Rochester, Mankato, Dilworth, and St. Louis Park, and if you see yourself in one of the shots, let us know so we can put your name in the caption.
Our blog (for which we need an interesting name - got any ideas?) will be your one-stop shop for campaign news and notes. From news clips and press releases to new videos and site updates, it'll be worth checking out constantly, even at the expense of your productivity at work.
And keep checking back at http://www.alfranken.com -- we've got even bigger plans for the site, and you'll start to see some new features (and maybe a couple things just for fun) in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, back here in Minneapolis, our office is bursting at the seams with staff, interns, and volunteers. We're phone banking, sending out bumper stickers, and planning trips to every corner of Minnesota. So if you haven't seen the blue-and-gold-shirted TeamFranken in your neck of the woods yet, stay tuned.
If you'd like to join us, you can sign up to volunteer on our site. So far, we've had over 2,000 offers of help, and as we expand our operations, we'll be relying on our volunteers more and more. So if you've signed up and haven't heard from us yet, you will soon.
All of this costs money, of course, so I would be remiss if I didn't make a quick pitch to help us out with a financial contribution. If you've never given to a campaign before, we make it easy for you on our website.
And you don't need to give a lot to make a real difference. Even $20 buys us some lawn signs or helps us pay for computers and field organizers around the state. And it gives you a stake in our campaign - together, we can spread Al's message and help bring new leadership to Washington. Now, when was the last time you got that kind of change for a twenty? Get it? Change for a twenty? Huh? See? Al isn't the only one who's funny!
Oh. It wasn't that funny? Ah. Well, I digress.
Anyway, pitch over. If you've already helped us out by volunteering or contributing, or if you're planning on doing so now, thank you. You've helped us reach huge crowds around the state and build a real buzz about Al's candidacy.
And it's already having an impact on the race: the latest poll from Rasmussen Reports (an independent pollster) has us within striking distance of Senator Coleman - just ten points back!
Between our momentum in the polls, our snazzy new website, and the great feedback from Minnesotans (from the crowd of 800 at the Duluth Labor Temple to the cooks at Don Pablo's in Fergus Falls), Al and Franni are feeling great, and we're all looking forward to the next 599 days on the campaign trail.
Hope to see you soon!
Andy Barr

P.S. - If you're in Minneapolis, don't forget: next Thursday, March 22, is Al's kick-off reception at Solera Restaurant in Minneapolis. Click here for details!
