Two days ago, Governor Howard Dean wrote you to tell you how Republicans are pushing forward with a plan that will restrict Democrats’ right to free speech on the Senate floor.

The GOP’s goal is simple: George Bush and Republicans want to dismantle the system of checks and balances that have kept our democracy thriving for more than 200 years. They want absolute power, silencing your voice along with everyone else who disagrees with their agenda.

They want to pack the federal courts—including the Supreme Court—with lifetime appointments for judges who are far out of the mainstream, who will attack our most basic rights. But the only way Republicans can do this is to silence Democrats in the Senate.
