Hatch Campaign: Rasmussen Poll Results for MN Governor
05/10/2006
May 10, 2006
Dear Friend:
The good news is that an independent poll released today indicates that Mike has a ten-point lead over Tim Pawlenty. The Rasmussen Poll is an independent polling firm that tracks Governor and Senate races throughout the country. The poll indicates that Mike’s lead widened by five points since March.
It should be noted, however, that the poll does not include an Independence Party candidate or a Green Party candidate.
The polls taken to date indicate that Mr. Hutchinson (an Independence Party candidate) has six points, and the Green Party candidate has two points. We believe that seven of the eight points allocated to these third-party candidates would be counted as supporting Mike in a two-way race with the Governor. Because the Rasmussen Poll has a margin of error of four points, the Governor’s race is essentially in a dead heat.
The polls indicate that undecided voters would prefer a new governor, but need to know more about Mike. I urge you to make a contribution to the campaign so Mike can get his message to those voters.
Over the past 15 years, the DFL candidate for governor has failed to get 40 percent of the vote. The Rasmussen Poll indicates that today Mike would receive 50 percent of the vote, a feat that only one statewide candidate achieved in the last 12 years (Mike Hatch in 2002 ).
Sincerely,
Kari Erickson
Campaign Coordinator
