Help Break The Government’s Silence

02/23/2006

Dear DFLer,

Unions are the backbone of the American workforce. All American workers are better off when unions are strong. The work of unions has made so many vital gains for worker’s rights, and when faced with incredible opposition from the current party in power, we must remain committed to putting workers and unions on equal footing with employers.

Governor Pawlenty and President Bush talk a lot about competitiveness. You can not break the spirit of the American worker and hope to remain competitive. The Minnesota DFL Party believes we must fight the hostile, anti-worker environment created by the GOP agenda.

To support the efforts of these valuable Minnesota workers, the DFL Party has called on Governor Pawlenty to stand up and do the right thing. The Governor needs to grant the Northwest Airline mechanics’ requests for jobless benefits and retraining so that they can rejoin the workforce – exactly what happened without incident in Michigan when workers were faced with an identical situation.

Please join us and call on the Governor to break his silence and make the right decision to support benefits and retraining for these hardworking men and women.

Thank you for standing up for workers’ rights.
