Help Override Governor Pawlenty’s Transportation Bill Veto!

05/18/2007

Dear DFLer,

I'm writing to encourage you to contact the state representatives listed below TODAY to ask him or her to override Governor Pawlenty's veto of the transportation bill that overwhelmingly passed both the House and the Senate this week.

This important override vote will take place no later than Monday. Every minute counts as the Legislature wraps up business this weekend.

Please:

Thank him or her for their vote to support a bill that will improve the lives of Minnesotans by putting more money into transportation; and

Ask him or her to override the Governor's veto because it's in the best interests of his constituents and the entire state of Minnesota.

You may reach the following representatives at:

Jim Abeler, 48B – (651) 296-1729,

Bud Heidgerken, 13A – (651) 296-4317,

Dennis Ozment, 37B – (651) 296-4306,

Neil Peterson, 41B – (651) 296-7803,

Kathy Tingelstad, 49B – (651) 296-5369,

Dean Urdahl, 18B – (651) 296-4344,

Enacting the transportation finance bill into law is crucial to our state's economic future. Every corner of Minnesota stands to benefit from this bill:

Greater Minnesota will finally see key roads rebuilt and extended.

Twin Cities metro residents will have the promise of decreased congestion.

Both Greater Minnesota and Twin Cities families will benefit from increased funding for their public-transit systems.
Finally, thousands of unionized workers will have opportunities for new jobs at living wages.

This is the common-sense, bi-partisan solution for the good of all Minnesotans.

If you are a constituent of one of the above representatives, be sure to specify that you are a constituent and regular voter who is paying close attention to his vote on overriding the governor's veto. In addition, state briefly how the provisions of the transportation bill will have a positive effect on you personally. As always, be polite but firm.

Again, this is URGENT, so please take this action TODAY. Our representatives will be working at the Capitol all weekend and will be looking for direction from constituents like you.

Thank you for standing up for the common good in Minnesota.

Sincerely,

Donna
