Help the Walz campaign with your VCR

Dear Dfl Supporter,

Do you have a VCR or a TiVo?  The Walz campaign needs as many people as possible to set their VCRs and TiVos to tape the news every day.

As the campaign heats up, we expect that Gil Gutknecht will go up with negative ads.  We need to be able to send those ads to our consultants as quickly as possible so that we can prepare a proper response.  In the event that Gil’s ads are factually inaccurate, having a copy of the ad to analyze will allow us put together the correct information and get the ad off the air as quickly as possible.

You do not have to be watching the news to volunteer to help us capture Gil’s commercials.  Simply set your VCR or TiVo to tape the morning, evening or late night news casts every night.  Political ads are more likely to air during the news then any other program.  E-mail with the channel and times of the news casts you’re taping.  Please also include your phone number in that e-mail.  When a new commercial comes out during one of the broadcasts you’re recording, Meredith will call you to obtain a copy.

You can also help by notifying us any time you hear a new commercial on the radio or see it on TV, even if you haven’t recorded it.  If you see a new Gutknecht commercial, please e-mail or call Meredith at 507-351-7730.  You might be the first to see this ad and the sooner we know about it, the better.
