How Much Would You Pay Per Minute to Beat Norm Coleman?

08/20/2007

Dear Friends,

George Bush and Norm Coleman seem to live by the saying: You scratch my back, I'll scratch yours.

Well, here's the saying we live by: What goes around, comes around. ( Click here to donate )

Senator Norm Coleman is paying the price for his steadfast support of the Bush Administration over the best interests of Minnesota. With his job-approval rating now at only 41 percent, Coleman is extremely vulnerable in his reelection bid next year.

Nevertheless, tomorrow Senator Coleman will greet President Bush in Eden Prairie with open arms, in exchange for Bush's persuading high-rolling Republican donors to open their wallets for him.

And Coleman will be raking in the big bucks. You can find out for yourself, but it'll cost you a mere $1,000 just gets you in the door, no perks. But if you pony up a cool $14,000, you'll get a photo opportunity, VIP seating, and a commemorative gift!

Coleman may raise a few hundred thousand bucks off of Bush, but we can fight back. This is how you can help today:

George Bush will be on the ground tomorrow in Minnesota for about four hours that's 240 minutes. Let's make those minutes count. Your donation of:

· Just 15 cents per minute that Bush is in town is just $36.
· 25 cents per minute that Bush is in town: $60.
· 50 cents per minute that Bush is in town comes to $120.
· A solid $1 per minute? A solid $240.
· And $2 per minute comes to a generous $480.

Now those aren't the high-roller dollar amounts that Bush will rack up for Coleman. But when you contribute today to the DFL Party, you are making it possible for us to keep up the hard work every day this year of getting ready for next year: staying in contact with Minnesota voters with our full-time, statewide field staff; constantly refining our voter file; and holding Coleman accountable for his long record of putting his loyalty to George Bush's failed policies ahead of his duty to Minnesota's common good.

Bush and Coleman can scratch each other's back all they want they've certainly done so often enough in the past five years, from Bush's hand-picking Norm to run as his anointed candidate in 2002, to Norm's supporting Bush 90% of the time he's been in the Senate, and now actively blocking Democratic progress in Congress at almost every turn.

We all have a role to play in building the best operation this state has ever seen and taking back Paul Wellstone's Senate seat. Your contribution of $36, $60, $120, $240 or $480 today can make all the difference when it comes to our own itch to scratch: sending Norm Coleman packing in 2008. ( Click here to donate)

And when we send George Bush back out of town tomorrow, knowing that we're sending Norm Coleman out of Washington in 2008? Priceless.

Sincerely,

Brian Melendez
Chair
Minnesota DFL Party
