In India, Pawlenty looks to boost Minnesota’s overseas trade
10/25/2007
AGRA, India (AP) - Governor Pawlenty is looking for the same kind of success in India that he found on a visit to China two years ago.
Since then, China has risen from fourth to second on Minnesota's list of trading partners. Only Canada imports more.
Pawlenty has not claimed his trade missions accounted for such quick growth in Minnesota exports. But he says the trips are significant.
The latest Asian trip is Pawlenty's fourth international trade mission and his seventh overseas effort since taking office nearly six years ago.
The trip will take Pawlenty to India's political capital in New Delhi, its financial center in Mumbai and its tech hub in Bangalore.
