Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer to Announce Candidacy for Senate
10/09/2007
Having found strong support across the state in his exploratory campaign, Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer will announce his candidacy for the United States Senate this Wednesday, October 10, at noon, outside the St. Paul office of Sen. Norm Coleman. Immediately after the announcement, more than 100 of Jack’s supporters will conduct the race’s largest-ever cell phone bank, right there on the sidewalk.
Nelson-Pallmeyer has taken part in DFL debates, picnics and bean feeds across the state, garnering standing ovations, supporters and contributions. He has also held more than twenty of his own listening sessions, finding Minnesotans in tune with his progressive message. And after raising more than $150,000 in September, he concluded that he could compete effectively, win the DFL endorsement, and defeat Norm Coleman in next year’s election.
“These past five years, Norm Coleman served as a cheerleader as core American values were trampled,” said Nelson-Pallmeyer. “We have been divided too long by a politics of fear. It is a time to embrace a politics of hope. We are entering the most important decade in history. NASA’s lead environmental scientist, says the decisions we make in the next ten years will determine the quality of life for all future generations. I am the candidate who can face these challenges with vision and courage.”
