Kennedy tops fundraising efforts

Minnesota Republican U.S. Senate candidate Mark Kennedy outraised DFL rival Amy Klobuchar for the third straight reporting period, according to numbers both campaigns released Tuesday.

Kennedy, congressman for the 6th District, raised about $1.48 million in the first quarter of the year, compared with $1.26 million for Klobuchar, the Hennepin County attorney.

Kennedy finished the period with about $3.4 million, compared with $2.5 million for Klobuchar. Overall, Kennedy has raised about $5.1 million, while Klobuchar has pulled in $3.7 million.

Klobuchar’s DFL opponent, Ford Bell, did not release his figures Tuesday. The filing deadline is Saturday.
