WASHINGTON, D.C.—Hennepin County Attorney Amy Klobuchar said Wednesday that her U.S. Senate campaign raised more than $1.24 million in the first half of the year.
Child-safety crusader Patty Wetterling drew donations from nearly 11,000 people and raised $750,000 in four months to run for the seat held by Democrat Mark Dayton, who is not seeking reelection.
The lone Republican, Sixth District Rep. Mark Kennedy, will not release his second-quarter figures until the Federal Election Commission’s July 15 deadline.
Klobuchar said she amassed about $650,000 in the second quarter and had $1.1 million in cash June 30.
Wetterling collected more than $420,000 in the quarter, ending with at least $375,000 in cash, campaign manager Carol Butler said.
Real estate developer Kelly Doran wrote a $250,000 check to his campaign, while attracting more than $61,000 in private donations in his first two weeks of fundraising, spokeswoman Tonya Tennessen said. Ford Bell, a veterinarian who is president of the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation, said he raised about $100,000 during the quarter ending June 30.
Independent candidate Jack Uldrich said he has raised $2,500 and may run a bare-bones campaign built around an Internet site.
