Lobbying Our Congressman Re: Torture and Human Rights Abuses

09/28/2005

Dear Citizens:

As part of Amnesty International’s initiative to Denounce Torture, I have arranged for a delegation of citizens to visit Congressman Gil Gutneckts office on Thursday, September 29th at 3:00 pm.

This is an important issue. The allegations of torture, if true, mean that the United States is engaged in unlawful and immoral conduct, the type of conduct which in the past the United States condemned as reprehensible.

The charges of torture, abuse, and the denial of human rights for so-called ‘enemy combatants’ and others have been so widespread that they cannot and should not be ignored or allowed to be pushed onto the back pages of the political scapebook. We must not allow those responsible to evade responsibility, the law, and the moral outrage of the people.

If you can participate in this lobbying event, please e-mail me at and I will send you a packet of information on the agenda and presentation we will make.

Best regards,
Loyal D Nelson
