Lynch named vice chair of Senate Health and Human Services Budget Division


State Senator-Elect Ann Lynch (DFL-Rochester) has been named vice chair of the Senate
Health and Human Services Budget Division.


“This is a very important position for our community,” Lynch said. “Important decisions
are made about the financing of the state’s health and human services programs and this
has a direct impact on the lives and livelihoods of many area residents.”


In addition to serving as vice chair of this committee, Lynch will also serve as a member
of the Higher Education Budget and Policy, Education, and Health, Housing and
Family Security committees.


“As I member of the Senate Higher Education Budget and Policy Committee, I look forward to
continuing the progress that’s been made on the University of Minnesota Rochester,” Lynch said.
“This is an exciting time for higher education in our community.”


A former school board member, Lynch also looks forward to serving on the
Senate Education Committee.


“I plan on sharing first-hand examples of what has happened in our classrooms because
of decisions made at the state level during the past four years,” Lynch said.
“There have been some success and some issues that need to be revisited.
Nothing is more important that our children’s education and giving them the skills they
need to succeed. We need to work hard to once again make Minnesota a national leader in education.”


Serving on the Health, Housing and Family Security Committee will be a nice compliment to serving
as vice chair of the finance division, Lynch said.


“Overall these are great committee assignments,” Lynch said. “I look forward to hitting the
ground running when the session convenes on Jan. 3.”
