Kennedy’s donor list a ‘who’s who’ of the Republican scandals
ST. PAUL (5/12/06) – Just yesterday, Kennedy donor and Kentucky Governor Ernie Fletcher was indicted on charges of conspiracy and misconduct. While they were both serving in congress, Mark Kennedy received $2,000 from Fletcher’s policies committees.
Mark Kennedy’s campaign cash has come from some highly questionable Republican donors. Some have been indicted, still others are under federal and state investigations and one has pleaded guilty to taking millions in bribes.
“Mark Kennedy is bringing the culture of corruption from Washington home to Minnesota,” Minnesota DFL Chair Brian Melendez said. “Kennedy has accepted donations from all the major players in the Republican scandals. Minnesota needs to return honesty and accountability in our government. The money players who have invested in Mark Kennedy’s political career are the some of the most corrupt politicians in Washington.
“Kennedy took thousands of dollars in tainted money, and he voted to weaken ethics rules on Tom DeLay’s orders. Mark Kennedy can’t be trusted. We know who Kennedy owes his career to and whose interests he really serves.”
