Meet Me In Rochester TOMORROW (Monday 2/19)
02/18/2007
Dear Editor,
When I kicked off my race for the United States Senate last week, I knew that 21 months is a long time to spend campaigning. But I wanted to start early so that I could spend as much time as possible going around the state, meeting great progressives like you and talking with you about how we can make our state, and our country, a better place to live, work, and raise a family.
The response so far has been nothing short of amazing. We had almost 200 people pack themselves into a tiny union hall in Nashwauk (population: 935), and an astounding 800 at our event at Wellstone Hall in the Duluth Labor Temple. And we've had thousands of Minnesotans sign up to help out at our website, http://www.alfranken.com.
I'm writing to you today because I'm coming to Rochester tomorrow (Monday, February 19th), and I'd like to meet you in person, tell you a little bit more about me and my campaign, listen to your thoughts and suggestions, and ask for your support.
I'll be at Dos Amigos Restaurant at 20 4th Street SE. The event starts around 5:30 p.m., but based on the crowds we got up north, I'd suggest getting there early to make sure you get a good spot. If you'd like to RSVP, it's as easy as replying to this message. Tell your friends, too - they can just e-mail us at . Or they can just show up.
I know it's a little early to be thinking about politics, but we have a lot to talk about. How can we ensure that every American has access to affordable health care? How can we make sure our brave veterans returning home from Iraq have the medical and financial support they deserve? And how can we make it just a little bit easier for middle-class families to send their kids to college?
Last year, the people of Southern Minnesota elected a great new Congressman, Tim Walz, and a great new Senator, Amy Klobuchar. I had a great time meeting many of you as I traveled the region in support of these candidates. And I can't wait to be there again this week.
Hope to see you Monday!
Yours truly,
Al Franken
