Dear Paul,
Tim Pawlenty is a charming, charismatic, generally likeable guy. And he’s a terrible governor. But as all showman do, Pawlenty is planning an onslaught of bright, shiny advertisements complete with campaign promises and election year gimmicks to cover up all the ways his administration has let Minnesota down.
When you can’t run on your record, you have to run on your smile.
Last week, the Minnesota DFL Party began running a television ad designed to educate Minnesotans on Governor Pawlenty’s real record.

Everybody knows that the GOP has the money - they have their war chests stocked and hordes of special-interest dollars waiting in the wings.
The one thing the GOP doesn’t have on their side is the truth.
Despite Tim Pawlenty’s trick of saying one thing and doing the exact opposite, the voters will not be fooled.
Under Tim Pawlenty’s watch Minnesotans have faced countless hardships:
* Property taxes have increased over $1 billion due to cuts in local government aid and education funding
* Tuition to attend our great colleges and universities has gone up over 50%
* Fees have been hiked on everything from fertilizer, to fishing licenses to cars
* 94,000 Minnesotans have lost their healthcare
* Our roads and transportation systems are becoming beat-up and out-dated
* And Pawlenty is responsible for the first ever cut to education funding in the history of the state of Minnesota

In a craven attempt to please his right-wing buddies and get elected at the same time, Tim Pawlenty promised not to raise taxes. Instead, he has hidden the rising cost of his administration through property tax increases, fee hikes and word games.
